Terms of service

Plain language on purpose. This is not a wall of legalese — it says what you need to know and nothing more.

The short version

Three things that matter most:

It is free

FlashDesk costs nothing to download or use. There is no subscription, no account, and no in-app purchase.

No warranty

FlashDesk is provided as is. If something goes wrong I will try to help, but I cannot promise a fix or take responsibility for the outcome.

No deception

You must not use FlashDesk to deceive or defraud anyone. Using it to gain access under false pretences is not a permitted use.

1. What FlashDesk is

FlashDesk is a remote support tool for Windows. When you run it, it generates a 9-digit ID. Someone who already has your trust — a family member, a friend, a support person you called — can enter that ID on their own computer to see your screen and control your mouse, so they can help you with a problem.

Every session requires your active permission. You see a dialog showing the 9-digit number of the person requesting access. You can end the session at any time by clicking the visible amber strip or closing the window. No background process runs when the session ends, and nothing is left installed on your computer.

Using FlashDesk means you have read these terms and agree to them.

2. What you can and cannot do

Permitted uses

  • Helping someone you know with a computer problem over the phone or a video call.
  • Receiving help from someone you trust, such as a family member or a support person at a company you have contacted yourself.
  • Personal, business, or commercial use — there is no restriction on use case as long as both sides have genuinely consented.

Prohibited uses

  • Deception and fraud. You must not connect to someone's computer under false pretences — for example, by pretending to be a support person from a company you do not work for, or by asking someone to download FlashDesk as part of a scam.
  • Uninvited access. Every session must start with the other person's free and informed consent. Do not enter someone's ID without their knowledge, and do not pressure, trick, or manipulate anyone into giving you access.
  • Illegal activity. Do not use FlashDesk for anything prohibited by the laws of the country where you or the other person are located.
  • Sharing access without consent. Do not allow a third party to use a session the other person did not know would be shared.

FlashDesk will never telephone you unsolicited. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from FlashDesk, Microsoft, your internet provider, or any other company — and they ask you to download FlashDesk or give them your 9-digit ID — hang up. That is a scam. Legitimate support starts with you making contact, not the other way around.

3. No warranty

FlashDesk is provided as is, without any warranty of any kind — express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

There is no promise that:

  • FlashDesk will always work correctly or without interruption.
  • FlashDesk will always be available or free from errors.
  • Any bug or problem you encounter will be fixed.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author of FlashDesk accepts no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this software — including loss of data, loss of privacy, or financial harm — even if you have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

You are responsible for your own use of FlashDesk: what access you grant, who you grant it to, and what you do with access that others grant to you.

4. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your own country. If a clause in these terms conflicts with a mandatory legal right you hold, that clause does not apply to you to the extent of the conflict.

5. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the revision will be dated and posted here. There is no mailing list or notification — check back if it matters to you. Continuing to use FlashDesk after a change has been posted means you accept the revised terms.

The current version of these terms was last updated on 20 September 2026.
